Dark Winter
Dark Winter - mysterious, deep, cool and borrowing a little Autumn depth and richness. You don't have to be dark in coloring to be a Dark Winter but you will ultimately benefit from the depth of hue in makeup and textiles.

Dark Winter People
Dark Winter people benefit from depth - which doesn't mean just wearing black. Dark Winters enjoy some of the Autumnal earthiness in their palette but need darker hues to appear grounded. Dark drapes on a Dark Winter person, do not appear 'dark', they just look 'right'.

The Vibe
A Dark Winter needs depth but richness (as opposed to depth and clarity like True Winter). Your best black is a slightly softer or faded black. A smokey eye or dark lip looks at home on you. If you're not sure of your Season, visit Color Curator in North Carolina.

The Drapes
I drape clients in a red, blue, green and yellow from each Season, and the True Seasons also have a neutral. I also have luxury drapes to show the beauty of the Season and some metallics too. Learn more about the draping process.

The Palette
These beautiful color palettes, carefully curated by NDU colors, aren't comprehensive - there are thousands of colors that the human eye can see, but they are meant to show the range of dark to light and chroma that the Season can wear. We shouldn't be color 'matching' to squares when shopping, but trying to get the right overall color vibe and properties.

Celebrities
Suspected Dark Winter celebrities include Salma Hayek, Sandra Bullock, Kit Harington, Gal Gadot, Penelope Cruz and Demi Moore amongst others.

Jewelry & Accessories
Rich, cool burgundy and deep greens and blues feature heavily in your accessories. Leather is an easy way to add richness and depth to your wardrobe. As a cool season, Dark Winter gravitates to silver and pewter and you can wear some gold darker golds. Dark Winters shine in deep colored gems like emeralds, blue sapphires, and lapiz lazuli.

Makeup
Dark Winters get the berry shades and can rock a dark lip and smokey eye. I love The Concept Wardrobe's recommendations for makeup for each Sesason.

Deep Dive
I am a huge fan of Christina Scaman of 12 blueprints, who has a great deep dive video on how to differentiate Dark Winter from True Winter.
